CLASSES OF INFORMATION
This publication scheme contains more than 200 classes of
information which the Council publishes or intends to
publish. The classes have been arranged in the broad
categories set out in the columns below. The classes
are set out in a schedule at the end of the scheme.
There is a brief description for each category which should
point the way towards any required information. It is the
classes however rather than the categories which are published or
intended to be published.
The categories are shown in the menu list at the side of this
page. Enquiries relating to each category should be made to
the directorate/section listed in the right hand column.
Each category has been given identifying letters which link to
the classes and a contents index. When using this scheme, you
may find it useful to look for the topic in which you are
interested in the
contents
index first. This will give you identifying letters and a
number to assist you in finding the relevant class or classes in
the classes schedule. For example, if you want to know where
to find information about trees, you should look for 'trees' in the
contents index. This advises you to look at PL5. This
is item number 5 in the Planning category. The categories are
set out in the schedule in the order in which they appear
here.
The full table containing classes of information is available
as a pdf from the link at the side of this page.
The Categories have been drawn having regard to public
interest and following consultation with officers from all
Directorates who provided details of what information is currently
published and what aspects of their services generate most
enquiries. The names of the categories also assist in
navigating the Council's website. Where officers have
collated details of frequently asked questions, key words from such
questions have been incorporated into the contents index.
Where information such as printed leaflets has become out of date
and/or has been reprinted in an amended format the old
versions are not published.
Within all the categories and classes the Council may hold
information which is confidential or exempt from the obligation to
allow access. It should be noted therefore that categories
and classes do not include information which by law the Council
must or may not publish (for example in connection with legal
proceedings or individuals, third parties or service users).
Where possible, specific references will be made regarding this
against the relevant class.
