DATA PROTECTION
Introduction
Welcome to Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council's Data

applies to electronic records as well as structured and
unstructured personal information held in manual form by a public
authority. The Act requires that all personal data must be
processed in accordance with eight principles, which state that
data must be
- processed fairly and lawfully
- processed for limited purposes
- adequate, relevant and not excessive
- accurate
- not kept longer than necessary
- processed in line with the data subject's rights
- secure
- not transferred to countries outside the EEA without adequate
protection
