COUNCIL BUDGET
Introduction
Each year the Council approves the budget for its General
Revenue Account services and the Capital Programme.
In preparing the Budget, the Council circulates its proposals
and consults with Town and Parish Councils, trade union
representatives of its employees and the local business community
through the South Cheshire Chamber. The Consultation Draft Budget
is also placed on the Council's website, enabling consultation with
the wider community.
The Budget
The Budget is made up of a number of elements,
principally:
- The General Revenue Account
budget, being spending on day-to-day service
provision
- The Capital Programme, being
investment in projects which provide longer-term benefit to the
community
In summary, the Budget provides for continued service delivery
and development in line with the Council's policies and plans. The
Revenue Budget is balanced by a Council Tax.
Clearly, when setting the Council Tax for the year it is
important to take into account the projected budget position for
the medium term. This is explained in the Foreword to the
Budget.
