APPLICATIONS UNDER THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT
1990
43
The Borough Planning Officer submitted the following applications
for determination.
1.
P05/1100
Residential Development for 8 Flats and Restoration of
Walls around Walled Garden (Reserved Matters), The
Walled Garden off King's Lane, North of 82-96 Welsh Row, Nantwich
for Jennings Investments LLP
REFUSED: Reason
The proposed two and a half storey apartment building by
virtue of the extent of its footprint, height, size, bulk, mass and
design is out of keeping with and harmful to the setting of the
Walled Garden and the adjacent to the Nantwich Conservation
Area. The proposed building is too close to the
listed walls and its location and size would result in a loss of
the open character of the garden. The use of
cladding as a building material in the design of this building is
harmful to the character and appearance of the listed walls and the
adjacent conservation area. To allow the
development would be contrary to Policies BE.7 (Conservation
Areas), BE.9 (Listed Buildings Alterations and Extensions) and
BE.10 (Changes of Use for Listed Buildings) of the Borough of Crewe
and Nantwich Replacement Local Plan
2011.
