APPLICATIONS UNDER THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT
1990
59
The Borough Planning Officer submitted the following applications
for determination.
(Note: Having declared an interest,
Councillor Martin withdrew from the meeting.)
1.
P06/0349 Outline
Application for New Church and Replacement
Bowling Green, Land off Broad Street, Crewe for North
Street Methodists
REFUSED: Reason
The proposed replacement bowling green, by reason of its
siting, method of construction and drainage, and arrangement of
facilities would not represent a replacement of equivalent or
greater quality with equivalent or better management
arrangements. In particular, the proposed
replacement green will encroach upon the site of the existing
Bowling Green which would prevent the continuity of provision of
the current bowling green being retained and available for use
until the replacement Bowling Green is established and made
available for use. The form and construction of
the replacement Bowling Green is not equivalent to the existing
crown Bowling Green by reason of the storage and seating facilities
and the specification of the Bowling Green and as such does not
represent a satisfactory replacement in terms of usefulness and
quality.
Therefore the proposed replacement does not comply with Policy
RT.1 (Protection of Open Spaces with Recreational or Amenity Value)
of Crewe and Nantwich Replacement Local Plan 2011 and PPG 17
(Planning for Open Space, Sport and
Recreation).
(Note: Councillor Martin rejoined the
meeting.)
