LOCAL CODE OF
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
1. This section of the Crewe and Nantwich website
contains a revised Local code of Corporate Governance based
upon the SIPFA/POLACE framework athorised by
the Council's Board on the 6th March 2008.
2. A working group of the Society of Local Authority
Chief Executives and Chartered Institute of Public Finance and
Accountancy recommended that all Authorities adopt a
Local Code of Corporate Governance to demonstrate their
commitment to high standards of corporate governance.
3. Corporate Governance is the system by which local
authorities regulate themselves and relate to the public they
serve. The Local Code proposed for Crewe and Nantwich Council
sets out, in accordance with guidelines of the working group, five
dimensions of the Council's activities. For each dimension it
demonstrates how the principles of openness, inclusivity, integrity
and accountability are put into effect in this
Authority.
