Unsung Heroes to be recognised at
the 2009 Mayor's Oscars

The Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich, Councillor
Brian Silvester wants to know if you have an exceptional neighbour.
Maybe you have come across an outstanding sports person or you know
someone who gives up their free time to help others. Everybody
knows someone who deserves to be acknowledged for their hard work
and dedication and now is your chance to give them that recognition
at the Mayor’s Oscars.
Previous winners have included both of Crewe
and Nantwich’s Olympic heroes, Beth Tweddle and Shanaze Reade.
Shanaze who won the Sports Personality of the Year Award in the
2008 Ceremony had this to say: “It was an absolute honour for me to
win this award. There were lots of great people nominated with me
and for the people of the Borough to have voted for me was amazing.
It is a fantastic achievement and it will stay with me
forever.”
The awards ceremony will take place on the
20th February 2009 and will be held at the Civic Hall in
Nantwich. The Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich Councillor Brian
Silvester said: “The Mayoress and I would urge you to nominate the
people you know who dedicate their time to improving the community.
The work that these people do is often done with the minimal of
fuss and ceremony and so their deeds go unnoticed but the Mayor’s
Oscars are a time when these people can be celebrated for all they
do for the Borough and everybody in it. The Oscars give us an
annual opportunity to say thank you to a few of the many unsung
heroes in our community.”

The closing date for nominations is the
7th November
2008.
Anyone can be nominated but they must fit into
one of the categories. For more information please call the Mayor’s
