Duties and responsibilities
 
1      To be the Board member having (a) overall responsibility for decision making arrangements in the following areas
 
  • Emergency planning
  • Environmental Health and Protection
  • Food Safety
  • Licensing/Regulatory activities
  • Crime and the fear of crime
  • Health development and policies implementation
  • Home Safety
  • Road safety
 
and (b) the power to require a proposed decision in any such area to be referred to the Board for their consideration or determination.
 
2        To have responsibility for monitoring and implementation of corporate objectives in respect of 1 above by:-
 
  • Setting performance targets relating to the objectives
  • Ensuring goals and milestones are met
  • Reviewing areas of relevant service provision
  • Developing new policies and strategies if necessary.
  • Ensuring services are properly promoted and understood.
3        To work together with other Board members to achieve the aims, objectives and plans of the Council
 
4.        To work together with other Board members to ensure that the Council contributes effectively towards all Community Strategy objectives.
