Why Recycle

Helps to protect the environment by reducing the need for new raw materials. These resources are finite, which means that we cannot keep on mining them year after year without them running out.

Recycling saves energy because it takes less energy to make new products from recycled items than to make them from the raw materials e.g. making a recycled can takes about one twentieth of the amount of energy it would take to make a can from fresh raw materials.
Saving energy can also benefit the environment through less pollution and 'greenhouse gases'.
 
Less space in landfill sites would be needed so existing landfill sites would last longer.
