Basford East and Basford West are major allocations of employment land to the south of Crewe on either side of the West Coast main railway line.    Development of these sites is seen as crucial to the future prosperity of the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich.

BASFORD WEST DEVELOPMENT

Planning application P03/1071 was received by the Council in 2003. The application is submitted in outline and seeks permission for warehousing and distribution (B8), manufacturing (B2) and light industrial/ office (B1) development, with the construction of access roads, footpaths and rail infrastructure, import of soil materials, heavy goods vehicle and car parking and landscaping / habitat mitigation.

The Council has now received a final consultation response from Cheshire County Council and a report on the planning application will be presented to the Development Control Committee at the meeting on 7th February 2008.  The Committee report will be available on the web site from Monday 4th February 2008.

As part of their work on the application Cheshire County Council commissioned a highway study prepared by Atkins Transport Planning -

BASFORD EAST DEVELOPMENT

The following applications have been received under the outline permission granted in 1999.

1. P05/0455 received on 1st April 2005. Application for retention of outline planning permission P96/0815 (employment development) without compliance with condition 10 and variation of condition 4.  For Prologis Development Ltd.

2. P05/0599 received on 14th April 2005. Application for reserved matters approval for three buildings for B2 (General Industry)/ B8 (Storage and Distribution) and 4 office buildings.  For Prologis Development Ltd.

No reports to committee have been prepared on these planning applications to date.

The Development Briefs were amended in accordance with Board Decisions made on 15th April 2004.
