What Planning Doesn't Do

Town and Country Planning legislation deals with the use and development of land.    Parliament gives local authorities powers to enforce these rules and regulations.

However there are many issues which are more properly dealt with under other legislation by other agencies or other divisions of the Council.

Land ownership
The Planning Division has no definitive records of land ownership.

Queries about Borough Council owned land should be addressed to
Economic Development and Estates
Municipal Buildings
Earle Street
Crewe

Queries about Wulvern property (including former Council houses) should be addressed to
Wulvern Housing.

Queries about Cheshire County Council land should be addressed to the
County Council Business Unit.

For issues relating to privately owned land you need to consult the deeds for the property.
The deeds may have information on  responsibility for the maintenance of boundaries as well as restrictive covenants.    Your solicitor will help you with these issues.

Queries about registered title can be answered by the Land Registry.

Noise nuisance
Complaints about noise nuisance are dealt with under the Environmental Protection Act by
Environmental Health.

Issues about Service strips, Adoption of highways and Street lighting are dealt with by
Cheshire Highways.
