Riding Establishment Licensing

Stables, which hire out horses or ponies for riding or instruction must be licensed under the Riding Establishments Acts 1964 and 1970.

The definition of a Riding Establishment is "the carrying on of a business of keeping horses for either riding or hire, or the purpose of instruction for the return of payment."

Veterinary surgeons, police forces and zoos do not require licences.

The current fee is     £70.00

The license will be issued subject to compliance of license conditions and payment of fees.  The annual fee for the licence must accompany the application and Veterinary fees are invoiced to the proprietor following the inspection.  The Veterinary fees will vary depending on the size of the riding establishment.
