Dog Registration
Scheme
A free registration scheme is in
operation in the borough, each registered dog is given a numbered
tag to be worn on its collar. The number relates to the owner's
contact details, enabling the wardens to return the dog to its
owner, or advise where it can be found. If the dog has to be taken
to the kennels, only the daily kennelling fee will be
payable.
Benefits Of
Registration
- Lost or stray dogs will be returned to owners if
picked up by a Dog Warden
- Dogs will only be impounded if owners are not
available to receive them or the animal has been picked up on a
previous occasion
- Owners of registered dogs will pay no release
fee for the first return
- Dogs registered will be issued with a personal
number and identity disc
- A computerised record will be kept to reduce
delay in reuniting owners and their dogs
- It shows you are a resposible dog owner
- Because it's a free service it encourages owners
to pass details of the scheme on to other dog owners
