Street Name Plates

The Borough of Crewe and Nantwich has the duty to name and sign streets. It has become increasingly important as we travel further from our local area that we can find where we are and where we want to go quickly and efficiently. Most importantly it is vital in the event of an urgent situation that you and your street can be located quickly by the Emergency Services.

New street nameplates are provided in a number of ways. The Borough of Crewe and Nantwich has a small budget to replace damaged or illegible signs and to provide new signs for streets without street nameplates. A typical new street nameplate can cost in excess of £200.
Concerning new developments, the Developer is required to provide street nameplates to the Cheshire County Council Highways standards.

We also maintain a list for new signs, which are provided as funds permit.
