Council Congleton
Borough Council
Crewe and Nantwich Borough
Council is the Street Naming and Numbering Authority for
the administrative area of Crewe and Nantwich. It
carries out these functions under the provisions of the Public
Health Act 1925 sections 17 -19. The
Council is working in partnership with Congleton
Borough Council for the Street Naming and Numbering
service in the Congleton area where Street Naming and
Numbering requests are processed jointly.
The service provides the principal point of contact for
address issues. These include addresses for new developments and
properties, change of house name and renaming and renumbering.
We maintain the definitive record of street names and property
addresses in the Local Land and Property
Gazetteer. Daily changes are sent to the
National Land and
Property Gazetteer.
Naming of new properties - Purchasers /
Conveyancers are advised to submit property naming / numbering
proposals for agreement by the Local Land and Property Custodian to
ensure that the property is entered into the National Land and
Property Gazetteer with the correct address for use by Land
Registry, Royal Mail, utility companies, emergency services
and Council departments.
