Demolition of Premises
Health risks, nuisance and environmental damage need to be
avioded during demolition.
The rights of the general public have to be protected.
The Building Act 1984 imposes a number of duties on a person
intending to carry out demolition work:
To give written notice to the Building Control Service of the
intended demolition, specifying the building, its address and the
extent of the demolition works.
The demolition company MUST NOT commence
demolition works until:
- The Borough Council has given either the demolition contractor,
builder or developer written notification of the conditions within
which the work can be carried out or,
- A period of six weeks has elapsed from the date that the
council demolition notice was issued by the Borough Council.
