Thursday 1st May 2008
Shavington Leisure Centre will be hosting a
free showcase of new ZigZag interactive fitness equipment to
members of the public, community groups, schools and potential
funding partners on Thursday 15th May. The new
interactive fitness suite is part of a number of plans to develop
the leisure facility at Shavington to extend community use
especially for young people and the elderly.
The showcase will be open from 9.00am until
8.00pm and will provide opportunities for people to view and try
out the new interactive fitness solutions from ZigZag including the
Sport Wall, Machine Dance (dance mats), Makoto and Cybex Trazer
(motion tracking) systems as well as showing plans for some
exciting potential developments at the centre. A number of
invitation-only sessions have been arranged throughout the day as
well as an open public session from 5.30pm – 8.00pm.
Keith Pickton, Head of Leisure Operations for
Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council explained, “The plans to
extend our health and fitness offering at Shavington allow us to
combine the interests of the current video games generation along
with the obvious health benefits for all ages of the
cardio-vascular workout provided by the equipment. The new style of
equipment is designed to encourage those who may not use normal
fitness equipment and sports activities to participate in and enjoy
more regular exercise.”

ZigZag is regarded as the
UK's leading company supplying innovative products to encourage our
youth to become more active. Interactive fitness products are
currently the biggest major trend in the commercial fitness market
- capturing the bodies and minds of the video game generation. The
concept of "your mind is in a game but your body is in a workout"
has been adopted by the industry as a genuine breakthrough in
getting kids active, particularly those who do not like traditional
sport or PE.
