A THANK YOU TO YOU!

There are 24,000 reasons to thank YOU for supporting local good causes. As that is the amount raised last year for local good causes raising monies in the Crewe and Nantwich Town Centre areas.

Town Centre Management has worked very closely with approximately 150 local registered charities whose volunteers have given their time to collect this staggering amount.  Street Collection Permits are issued to successful applicants  throughout the year; including the winter months which can be particularly ‘harsh’ dependant upon the weather conditions.

In 2007 the Town Centre Office issued 140 permits to local registered charities, who benefited from their fund raising activities.  Plus, the Town Squares can be utilised for non-commercial events for the enjoyment of shoppers and visitors into town.

Councillor John Hammond, Portfolio Holder for the Local Environment said:  “Street Collections are to the benefit of local people as the majority of money collected goes towards local good causes and fund raising events.  In line with the Borough Council's Street Collection Regulations checks are undertaken on the amounts collected and lists of authorised collectors issued to the Police and CCTV Camera Control Room.  Always feel confident to request sight of a Collectors Permit, issued by the Council, before you give any money ensuring you have control over your donations.  Legitimate collectors will always be pleased to do this, to ensure your continued support.”
