Brookhouse Children’s Play Facility improvements in
Crewe

A replacement playground has been provided off
Brookhouse Drive, Crewe. This has been part-funded by Landfill
Communities Fund of £25,000 from local landfill operator Waste
Recycling Group Ltd, which was administered by WREN and has been
achieved by the Borough Council working in partnership with the
Alexandra Neighbourhood Action and the Primary Care Trust.
The Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich Borough
Council, Councillor Brian Silvester will officially open the
Brookhouse park children’s play facility on Thursday 7th
August at 3.00pm.
Richard Smith, Cheshire Project Manager for
WREN said: “We are really pleased that we have been able to
award a further sizeable grant towards the provision of play
facilities in Crewe. The project is an excellent example of a
partnership between local residents the Borough Council and the
Primary Care Trust to provide a superb facility which we hope will
be enjoyed by many people for years to come.”

Officer said: “That the facilities are more then welcomed in
the community the need for Youth activities and Facilities is high
on the priorities of the Alexandra Neighbourhood Action and the
refurbished play ground and the addition of an all weather multi
play area will help to start to address the lack of facilities in
the area. The community also welcome the presence of the CNBC
Play team and visit of the Play Rangers to the park.”
Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods, Councillor Ray Westwood,
said: “We are really pleased that the Waste Recycling Group
has provided such excellent support for this venture that
encourages outdoor play for our young residents. As a Borough
Council, we have always encouraged the establishment of community
facilities that meet the needs of people of all ages.”

The Landfill Communities Fund (previously known as the Landfill Tax
Credit Scheme) gives landfill operators the opportunity to divert
6.7% of their annual Landfill Tax bill into the communities and
environments around landfill sites. To date the LCF has funded over
24,000 projects with half a billion pounds in
funding.
