                                                Crewe & Nantwich Festival 2008

The programme for the Crewe & Nantwich Festival 2008 has now been unveiled. Starting on Saturday 16th August, visitors can enjoy a fantastic programme of arts and entertainment activities at venues across the area. Festival 2008 then culminates with the annual Carnival in Queen’s Park, Crewe over the weekend of 23rd and 24th August.

Highlights of this year’s programme, which celebrates aspects of the Liverpool Capital of Culture 08 and Cheshire Year of the Gardens, include:

·        Something A-Maze-ing – An afternoon of dance, music and performance in the Combermere Abbey Maze.

·        The Dream in the Park – Free performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream set in Queen’s Park, Crewe.

·        Paint 2 the Rhythm – Workshops to create a unique piece of art inspired by live music.

·        Manchester Camerata Lunchtime Concert – St. Mary’s Church, Crewe

·        Parade Samba School – Free samba drumming, dance and costume workshops for the annual parade.

·        Carnival Parade – Annual procession through the town centre to Queen’s Park

·        Crewe Carnival – A weekend of entertainment in Queen’s Park including the Black Eagles dancers, Team MAD mountain bike stunt display, X-Treme Trials motorcycle stunt display.

·        Party in the Park – Jason Donovan headlines this year’s evening concert in Queen’s Park. Hosted in conjunction with The M Club and Caudwell Children.

 

Cllr. Bill McGinnis, Leisure Portfolio Holder for Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council, says “We have assembled a really exciting range of activities for the nine days of this year’s Festival programme with many of the activities completely free of charge. From live music to drama and visual arts, there really is something for everybody to enjoy at Festival 2008.”
