Council Demonstrates Commitment to High Safety Standards

Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council recently operated its first internal CIEH Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in the Workplace course for staff within the leisure division using its own team of newly qualified trainers.  Not only does the award demonstrate the high safety standards within the Council facilities but also the commitment to continuing professional development for the staff teams.   At a presentation ceremony on Monday 21^st July, attended by Cllr John Hammond (Leader of the Council), Cllr. Christopher Waling (Chair of the Health & Safety Committee), Paul Ancell (Chief Executive) as well as staff and trainers from the leisure service, the achievements of both the trainers and staff from the first intake of the training were celebrated.

Cllr. Bill McGinnis, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, said, “I would like to congratulate all of the staff involved, both as trainers and candidates, in their achievements. Delivery of this excellent standard of training demonstrates the high value that this authority places on the safety of the public using our facilities and for our own employee development.”

The train the trainer approach to health and safety course delivery now adds to the full package on offer within the Council’s leisure service which also includes lifeguard and swimming instructor training.
