Borough Committee gives go-ahead to
housing development
At the meeting of Development Control Committee of Crewe and
Nantwich Borough Council yesterday (10th January 2008),
concern was expressed by members of the Committee that there had
been a lack of clarity over the nature of the initial vote taken
with regard to planning application P07/1430.
The initial vote by the Committee did not
approve the application, but omitted to give reasons for refusing
it.
The application, for Thomas Jones & Sons,
is for the ‘Development of Thirteen Residential Dwellings &
Associated Access Road’ (with Demolition of No. 100 Wistaston Road
& Erection of Garage for No. 102 Wistaston Road, Land to
the Rear of Marbury Cottage & 100-108 Wistaston Road,
Willaston).
Before the close of the meeting following
officers advice, it was considered appropriate ( members having
felt that there had been some confusion about the first vote) for
the Committee to be given the opportunity to seek clarification on
the matter which resulted in a vote being taken and an approval
being granted.
Commenting on the decision reached by the
Committee to approve the application, the Committee Chair, Borough
Councillor Margaret Hollins said:
“I apologise to both the applicant and the local people of
Willaston for the confusion that this has caused but clearly it was
appropriate to ask members to clarify their decision.”
