Borough asks County Council to remove Clayhanger
Allocation
The Board of Crewe & Nantwich Borough
Council have agreed for a letter to be written and sent to Cheshire
County Council requesting that they consider removing the
allocation for Clayhanger as a landfill site from the Cheshire
Replacement Waste Local Plan.
In September 2007, the Borough Council,
Haslington Parish Council, Clayhanger Action Group and local
residents were delighted to hear the government had turned down the
application for planning permission for a clay quarry and landfill
site at Clayhanger Hall Farm near Haslington. However, since
the application was turned down by the Secretary of State, the
refusal to grant planning permission has not resulted in the
Clayhanger site being removed as a preferred site for landfill from
the Plan.
Councillor John Hammond, Portfolio Holder for
the Environment said: “Although the planning application was
rejected some time ago, Clayhanger still has the allocation next to
its name on the waste local plan. I’d like to assure the
residents of Haslington and Winterley that the Borough Council are
still working hard to get the allocation removed so that we can
finally draw a line under this issue once and for all.”
