A Valentine from Nantwich
Nantwich Market traders are planning their
Spring and Summer programme to ensure you have fun whilst you
shop. The traditional Market Hall commences its programme, on
Saturday 16th February, with the return of the Charlie Chaplin
look-a-like, who delighted shoppers last year.
Charlie is played by Frank Terry and is the
leading Chaplin look-a-like in Europe, he is also an entertainer in
his own right with his tumbling skills and human statue
performances.
This endearing ‘Little Tramp’ is instantly
recognisable around the globe. Famous for his tattered, baggy
pants, cutaway coat, vest and impossibly large worn out shoes and
battered derby hat, he has brought laughter to millions during his
life as a lovable clown from 1889 – 1977.
During the Valentine promotion visitors can
enjoy his silly walk and banter as he gives away balloon hearts and
wooden roses to Nantwich shoppers, all against a background of a
traditional market.
Councillor John Hammond, Portfolio Holder for
the Local Environment, said: “Shoppers were delighted to see
'Charlie' in town last year, so we have invited him back.
Nantwich Market Traders always have an exciting programme to enjoy
and make a shopping trip into town a real treat. The
Market Hall was refurbished last year and is a real pleasure to
visit, with friendly traders always happy to give you ideas and
advice about your individual purchases.”
Elaine Dodd, Town Centres Manager, added:
“The Market and Town Centre programmes are intended to keep
shoppers returning to Nantwich Market, where they are guaranteed a
huge selection of quality goods, with the added bonus of good old
fashioned customer service – why not take a look for yourself?”
