Council Fights On Against Post Office
Closures
Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council have
pledged to continue their fight against the proposed Post Office
closures in the Borough.
Last month Council bosses were left stunned
that a letter sent to the Network Development Manager had been
largely ignored. The letter went to great lengths to explain
local residents concerns and offered sensible solutions that could
be initiated to prevent closure. Included with the
letter was a petition signed by many supporters of our
campaign.
One solution put forward by the Borough
Council was that they would consider a proposal whereby the
affected post offices would be subsidised from Council funds,
however this was rebuffed by Post Office Ltd.
Councillor Margaret Simon, Portfolio Holder
for Customers said: “Following the disappointing decision by Post
Office Ltd, the Borough Council has decided to continue in their
campaign to highlight the affects of Post Office closures on
residents.”
She added: “Following closures we will
be closely monitoring queues at main branches to assess the impact
on waiting times for customers.”
