New wheels for
the Warden Service
Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council’s Dog
Warden has been equipped with a new vehicle for transporting dogs
in his care in a safe and hygienic environment.
The new van has been equipped and designed specifically to carry
out the task of moving dogs in a secure, clean and comfortable
manner. It displays a high top, near side and rear doors for road
safety, purpose built cages and roof air vents.
The Council’s Dog Warden carries out a number of functions in
relation to dog welfare and control. These include collecting stray
dogs, dealing with dog nuisance, promoting responsible ownership,
micro-chipping and registration.
Another boost to the Warden Service has arrived in the form of
two new Community Warden’s vehicles, which they will be able to use
when visiting designated parts of the borough. The Wardens cover
such a wide area, therefore, it makes sense for them to have the
kit to enable them to be even more efficient in dealing with
residents’ needs as quickly as possible. The Wardens are always on
the move and will also continue to patrol on foot, as a highly
visible reassurance to the community, sharing information with
residents and partner agencies.
Councillor John Hammond, Portfolio Holder for
the Local Environment said: "I know the Wardens make a big
difference to people’s lives as our team continually demonstrate.
There are a lot of good people out there and we want to help and
give them the opportunity and confidence to take pleasure in their
communities and enjoy life."
Councillor John Dwyer, Portfolio Holder for Safer Communities
said: “The Wardens and the local Police are already working
closely to identify the hot spots and problems experienced by the
communities they are based in. Patrolling the area, being visible,
talking to young people and reassuring residents and traders are
all parts of the Community Warden’s working day, and the new
vehicles will facilitate this important function.”
