Hottest ticket in town sells out in record time
Nantwich Players ‘Separate Tables’ is crammed
to capacity. The very successful amateur theatrical society
is staging the classic play by Terence Rattigan from Saturday
16th February to Saturday 23rd
February. Tickets for the 7 night run sold out in a
record-breaking time of two days through the Nantwich Tourist
Information Centre.
The play, set in a Bournemouth seaside hotel
in the 1950s, was turned into a classic of British cinema through
the performances of Burt Lancaster, David Niven, Rita Hayworth and
Deborah Kerr in 1957. Its enduring popularity is quite
apparent when previous sell-outs at the 82-seater Pillory Street
venue have taken three weeks.
Helen Gough, Manager of Nantwich Tourist Information
Centre, said: "Nantwich Players have an increasingly high
reputation, with people coming from well out of the local area
to see their productions. This particular show is
going on to a competition on the Isle of Man.”
Councillor Margaret Simon, Portfolio Holder for Customers,
said: "The Nantwich Players are a real success
story and the tickets are selling out increasingly
quickly. The public were queuing outside the Nantwich
Customer Service Centre at 8.45am on Monday morning for the
tickets, which went on sale at 9am. Anyone would
have thought that the office was selling Spice Girls
tickets! The staff in the office were busy all day and
it is rewarding how the Borough Council can help out such community
organisations."
