Borough Council judged as the best in the
country
Letter to the Editor
Dear Sir,
We are delighted that the Borough Council's
Environmental Health and Planning Departments have been judged the
best in England by the Audit Commission. Overall the Council
was judged as being the 19th best out of the 388
Councils in the country. This is a great result for the Borough
and in particular for our staff, who are
meeting the needs of a rapidly-expanding and diverse Borough.
The improvements introduced by our new administration in 2006 are
clearly paying dividends. We cannot rest on our laurels but to
be at the very top of this highly competitive league table is any
manager’s dream.
That such a level of performance improvement
has been achieved during a period of significant change and
uncertainty, brought on by the Local Government Review is
remarkable. Congratulations are due to all those
who have contributed.
Yours faithfully,
Cllr.Brian
Silvester and Cllr
Margaret Simon,
Leader and
Deputy Leader of
the Council
Crewe& Nantwich Borough
Council
