Businesses involved with the local
anti-business crime initiative in Nantwich – Stamp Crime Out Of
Town - were subject to a radio training session last weekend.
However, the emphasis was strictly on
fun. On Saturday morning, in the town centre, Kings, Knights,
Queens and Ladies of the Court, were in evidence and every time a
business spotted one of the characters they had to radio in to the
control room.
A check was be made on the shops that reported
the most correct calls and measured against the businesses that did
not make full use of its radio alert system. It all added to
the effectiveness of the training.
Elaine Dodd Crewe and Nantwich Town Centres
Manager said: “The intention was for radio users to gain
confidence over the radio – a fun session with a serious purpose.
This could prove invaluable in a problem situation, giving
users the confidence to communicate what could be most important
information. Often, information from the radio is directly
related to what is recorded on the security cameras and completes
the “ear and eyes” monitoring of the town centre. It
maximises the usefulness of the anti-crime tools available to
us.”
