Crewe & Nantwich Community
Sport and Physical Activity Network
Introduction
What
are these?
A single system for the delivery of
Sport and Physical Activity for Communities within the geographical
areas of the Borough (known as Community Sports Networks
nationally), this guidance explains the roles and structures set
out by Sport England, and approved by Government.
1.....The structure
- SPAA's form a key part of the structure of the Cheshire &
Warrington Sports Partnership
- SPAA's provide a local, strategic alliance of partners with an
interest in sport and physical activity, to work co-operatively
towards the achievement of agreed outcomes
- SPAA's provide the linkage between regional coordination, the
core team of the Sport Cheshire and planning and delivery at a
local level
2.....The role of Sport and Physical Activity
Alliances
- Increase participation levels within sport and physical
activity
- Widen access to opportunities for sport and physical
activity
- Bring together and align partners existing priorities and
targets within one joined up local vision and relevant action
plans
- To identify and secure the funding and resources required to
increase participation and widen access to sport and physical
activity
- Ensure the inclusion of sport and physical activity in the
Local Area Agreements and Local Public Service Agreemen
3.....Membership
Recommended that the core
membership of each SPAA should include:
- Local authority
- Health through the PCT
- Education
- Representatives from local thematic groups
- Local voluntary and community sector (Sports)
4.....Sub groups and project
groups
- New and existing groups could be linked as sub groups to
the SPAA e.g. Health and Well being thematic group or local sports
council
- Project groups may be formed to drive forward particular areas
of work e.g., action planning
5.....Developing the Vision Document and Action
plan
- Each SPAA needs to develop a vision document for the next four
years and beyond (this could be the development of a local sport
& physical activity strategy or 2-3 page document)
- The action plans developed will demonstrate local need and will
show how joint working will address all 3 PSA's and required
KPI's
- Both documents will have to be based on local need and agreed
by the SPAA partners.
- Action plans will need to be presented in a thematic form.
These themes will have a strong link to the following strategies
and agreements:
Local Area Agreement themes
County Sports
