Safeguarding and Protecting Children
(SCUK)
This has replaced the Child Protection and Good Practice
workshop. A workshop offering advice on all aspects of child
protection. Essential for anyone working with children and young
people in a sporting environment.
Emergency First Aid for Appointed Persons
A
short course providing sufficient practical skill to deal with the
immediate response required in an emergency. The course will cover
resuscitation, control of bleeding, unconsciousness and
communication until further help arrives.
Equity in your Coaching (SCUK)
Everyone
should have access to sport, regardless of gender, age, race,
ability, faith or sexual orientation. As a coach, you have an
important role to play in ensuring this happens. The workshop will
help you to apply and extend your existing skills to meet the needs
of present and potential participants.
How to Coach Disabled People in Sport
(SCUK)
This course introduces you to new ways to
adapt equipment and identify the appropriate safety and medical
considerations for your players.
An Introduction to LTAD (SCUK)
This new
workshop will help coaches to understand the reasons for adopting
L.T.A.D., it will also show how to integrate long term athlete
development in to your chosen sport.
Royal Lifesaving Society National
Pool Lifeguard Qualification (RLSS NPLQ) Course
The
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is a professional
qualification comprising of two units, both of which are covered on
this course. There are dry side and wet side activities and
candidates must attend all 38 hours to be eligible for the
assessment. This course is for anyone who is 16yrs or over
and is a competent swimmer.

ASA Level 1 Swimming Teachers
Course
An introduction to swimming technique, suitable for the novice to
the progressing swimmer. The course involves pool sessions covering
technique/ skill development and classroom workshops on stroke
mechanics and specific problem solving sessions.
ASA Level 2 Swimming Teachers
Course
This course will build upon the skills and knowledge developed at
level 1, and includes a greater range of ability levels and related
skills used in the practical context.

Level 1 Athletics
This course is for anyone over 16
years of age and will enable you to assist a Level 2 or above
coach, lead components of a safe and fun coaching session under
supervision and gain insurance cover for these activities.
Level 2 Athletics
This course follows on from
the Level 1 course. The “core” part of the award is taken by
coaches of all disciplines and goes into greater depth on coaching
techniques. At the same times topics such as planning a session,
anatomy and physiology, strength training, development of power,
teaching technique are all covered. The course will also involve
“supported practice” with a more experienced coach, an “event
specific” day (e.g. Sprints, Endurance, Jumps and Throws).
The event specific day/assessment day is one full day (It usually
takes place approximately 8 weeks after the core weekend has been
completed).

Community Sports Leaders
Award
This course helps people aged 16 years and
above develop the skills needed to lead groups in safe sporting and
recreational activity. It encourages participants to take
responsibility for others, develops organisational and
communication skills and instils confidence in people for whom
leading groups in sporting activities is a new experience.
The majority of the course is practical in nature with an emphasis
on learning through doing, rather than through written work.
An average course involves 25 to 30 hours of tutored time,
excluding the 10 hours of voluntary leadership experience.
