About The Aspire Project
The Aspire project works with young
people, aged 11 19 years of age, with mental health problems and /
or behavioural problems. The project has a multi-sport, physical
activity and active leisure approach, enabling a wider range of
young people to become involved. The range of active leisure
activities will include art,
dance and drama, which in the
initial stages may encourage young people to get involved in group
work at a pace, which may be more suitable and sustainable for
them. Young people living within the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich
are targeted, and access the project through an agreed referral
process.
The 14 years and older age group
are encouraged to play a more pro-active role by acting as sports /
activity leaders. This helps to develop confidence and build
self-esteem and help the young people to access further
qualifications in sport and physical activities as appropriate to
the individual. In addition to the sports related qualifications,
the project also help to provide non-sports related training where
appropriate.

To create an environment
that will enable young people to participate in physical

experience in team building and developing social
skills

To enable young people to
engage in activities outside their usual environment, helping to
break down barriers with travel and gaining an appreciation of the
wider area in which they live

To help young people to
identify and create alternatives for lifestyle changes
|

To provide crèche
facilities for single young parents / young people who care for
younger sibling, to enable them to participate in activities and
work alongside members from their peers
|
