Popular family activities include the large playground area,
originally refurbished in 1986, crown green bowling on the
carefully tended green and crazy golf or putting, which have long
been popular pastimes. For example in 1932, 13,710 players each
paid one penny for a round, and no doubt enjoyed it.
Annual events include the Carnival and Fete, with attendance
of up to 30,000 people and a popular programme of music and arts on
Sundays during the summer months. The park is also the venue for
the November 5th Bonfire party run by the Lions club.
The Park is still loved and regarded by the people of Crewe
and beyond as its best asset and as such it needs continual
maintenance. The Borough Council is committed to this work and
Direct Services division have begun a new programme in 2002. This
started with refurbishment work to the lodges.
