The County Council remains responsible
for making the restrictions. The Borough Council will undertake

£60.00 FINE |
Right now if you commit a parking
offence such as parking on double yellow lines, a Police Officer or
Police Community Support Officer will issue a Fixed Penalty
Notice.
After 21st January our Parking
Attendants will issue Penalty Charge Notices (fines) instead.
Why has the Borough Council
taken over responsibility for parking?
To free the Police to fight crime and
other traffic offences.
What are the FACTS?
- The Borough will get better
enforcement of parking regulations, which will target bad and
dangerous parking
- The Council will use fine money to
pay for the costs of enforcement, using any left over to improve
transport and parking in the Borough
- Parking Attendants will be employed
direct by the Council, not a private company. They will NOT have
targets or bonuses
- The Attendants will patrol when and
where they are needed to sort out parking problems
- Parking restrictions are NOT
changing- they will just be enforced better
- The fine or Penalty Charge Notice
amount is £60 -reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days of issue
