HOUSING STRATEGY
This is an important
document and sets out the housing needs of the area and explains
how those needs will be met.
All Councils have a duty
to assess housing needs (borough residents' needs and the physical
needs of the housing stock) and by working with partners agree a
plan of action to meet any shortfall.
Key elements
include:
- Researching residents' current and future housing needs. This
is normally done by regular sample surveying.
- Inspecting the housing stock.
- Consulting residents about their housing concerns
- Agreeing a strategy to deal with gaps in services, over and
under supply of accommodation, and....
- Reviewing, at least annually, the effectiveness of the
strategy.
