HOMELESSNESS STRATEGY
All local authorities are
required to prepare a homelessness strategy for their district. We
have been fortunate in Crewe & Nantwich. Rough sleeping only
occurs rarely and the use of temporary bed and breakfast
accommodation for homeless families is very uncommon.
However, over 200 households
seek help each year and the incidence of homeless young people is
rising.
A wide range of organisations
who deal with homelessness were consulted at the beginning of 2003
to put together a picture of the causes and effect of homelessness,
identify where services were failing to meet the needs of the
community, and to agree a plan to satisfy such needs. This is all
contained within the Homelessness Strategy.
