The Local Funeral
Introduction
The Local Funeral is an arrangement set up by the Borough Council
to ease funeral worries by providing the community with a sensitive
service offering certainty about the quality and cost.
What is included in the Scheme
- Collection of the deceased from the place of death, hospital or
mortuary within the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich
- Caring for the deceased on the Funeral Director's premises or
mortuary, until the day of the funeral
- Choice of coffin - lined veneered timber or cardboard both with
appropriate identification
- All necessary documentation to be provided by the Funeral
Director
- Hearse and appropriate number of bearers
- Regular review of standards by Crewe and Nantwich Borough
Council
- A promise that the Local Funeral will be conducted in exactly
the same manner, in every respect, as is customary
If you wish to make changes to the
type of service, these will normally be charged for in addition to
the fixed price and should be discussed with the Funeral
Director.
As at 1st August 2007 the Specially
Agreed Price is £950.00. Please check this price is still
applicable by telephoning (01270 584329) for an update.
Other Costs - (Disbursements)
The following items are not included in the specially agreed
price:
- Ministers Fee including charge for use of place of worship,
choir and organist - charged at cost to Funeral Directors
- Mourners car(s) £100.00 per car
- Travel outside of Crewe and Nantwich boundary at £1.30 per
mile
- Order of Service and Press Announcements - charged at cost to
Funeral Directors
- Council Charges for cremation/burial or grave purchase

please complete an application form, available from the Cemetery
and Crematorium office or alternatively contact the Co-operative
Funeral Services, Crewe direct on (01270) 584329.
Please remember that you must state
you require the Local Funeral at the time of making the
arrangement.
