Crewe Shopmobility, Victoria Car
Park, Crewe
What is
Shopmobility?
Crewe Shopmobility Scheme is a Crewe
& Nantwich Borough Council run service. It provides
FREE OF CHARGE, manual wheelchairs and scooters on
loan to ANYONE with a mobility problem, whether
temporary or permanent to help them around the town centre and do
their shopping. Visitors to the area are welcome.
How does it operate?
- Call in or telephone the Shopmobility Office located on the
Victoria Car Park, immediately adjacent to the ASDA supermarket
main entrance.
- For security and your convenience we operate a registration
system so on your first visit you will be asked to produce some
positive proof of identity and a member of staff will help you fill
out a registration form and you will receive a membership
card.
- Once registered, you will be able to book in advance by
telephone or calling in personally, a suitable Shopmobility scooter
or manual wheelchair. We recommend that you pre-book to avoid
disappointment and ensure availability and choice of
equipment.
- When using a power operated scooter, a member of staff will
show you how it works. The equipment may be used within the town
centre area shown on the map for shopping, social and leisure
purposes.
- There is limited free car parking next to the Shopmobility
Office for users of the scheme, or you can get to us by the
Dial-A-Ride Bus Service. Remember if you hold a Blue Disabled Badge
you may park free of charge in any Crewe &
Nantwich Borough Council Car Park but you must park within the
lines of a parking bay. Remember to check the rules in any car park
not belonging to the Borough Council.
- All equipment should be returned to the Shopmobility scheme at
the end of the hire period.
