Q) What are the current business issues?

A) Customer interest in market shopping is undergoing a renaissance, led by the emergence of specialist markets. But it's not easy: customers are much more demanding than they used to be. It is a common misconception among shoppers that when they buy from a market they take a chance, when in fact they have exactly the same protection as they would if they were shopping at a high street store or supermarket.

Things to be aware of at Crewe and Nantwich Markets:
  1. We are signed up to the Shoppers Charter.
  2. We operate a Refund Policy
The charter deals with rights under the Consumer Protection Act, and advises on how to seek redress should things go wrong.

These things are designed to give customers confidence to shop. You must abide by these rules if you trade in our markets. (see attached copies).
  • Markets stall traders face increasing demands for quality products. Your goods must be up to scratch!
  • there is a demand for more traders in fresh food eg fruit and veg.
  • Be aware that you need to comply with certain laws. Key areas include the national minimum wage and the sale of goods in metric weights.
