Q) Do I need any training and
qualifications?
A) There are no specific training courses for
individuals interested in becoming a market stall trader.
The Council will be able to supply information on relevant
courses in this area.
General retail training can assist in developing a client
base; information on local courses will be available from local
colleges of further education, business support organisations,
Learning and Skills Councils or training providers such as
LearnDirect.
The skills required in becoming a market trader are consistent
with those needed by anyone setting up a small business and include
book keeping and stock control. The National Market Trader
Federation provides training and advice for its members on
accounting procedures. Courses specifically aimed at small
businesses are available from a range of business support
organisations.
