The new Standards Committee offers help and guidance to Councillors in maintaining high ethical standards and professional behaviour.  It meets every two months and the Chair has cross-party support.  Three non-Councillors sit on the Standards Committee, one of whom is a Parish Councillor.

The Borough Council has a Monitoring Officer who is responsible for advising the Council on the legality of their decisions and on the conduct of Councillors and Officers.
