Population in Crewe and Nantwich
District (Section 2 of 2)
- These trends are contrary to those for Cheshire which generally
show a short term (2006) peak and long term decline (2021).
- Cheshire is expected to experience a fall in the number of
people of working age.
- Crewe and Nantwich however is expected to experience little
change over the long term in those of working age. The number of
older working age people (aged 45-64) will increase in the long
term by 23% and the number of younger working age (aged 16-44)
people will decline by 15%.

- Historically, much of this change in population pertains to
inward migration rather than changes in the birth and death rate
(natural change).

- On an ethnic basis, Crewe and Nantwich has the highest
non-white proportionate population in Cheshire; 98% of the
population is white. The next largest proportion being accounted
for by those of mixed ethnic background (0.7%).
- 80% of the population identified themselves as Christian with
19% stated they had no religion or did not answer the
question.
