3.          DEFINITION OF PARTICIPATING OPERATORS

 

3.1       All operators of local bus services in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington registered with the Traffic Commissioners are required to participate in this scheme.  For the purpose of the scheme operators will be defined as "large operators" and "small operators".  Where new operators enter the market by registering bus services in the Cheshire area they will be required to participate in the scheme and will be contacted by Cheshire County council's Transport Co-ordination service to achieve this.     

 

3.2       "Small operators" are where:

 

(a)       The vehicle normally used to provide the services has 8 or less seats available for fare paying passengers; or

 

(b)        An operator's eligible mileage within the scheme is less than 150,000 per annum. 

 

3.3       "Large operators" are those operators of local bus services not defined by 3.2 above.
