CONCESSIONARY TRAVEL SCHEME
The Borough Council's Scheme with effect from 1st April 2008

 

From April 2008 the government is launching a new bus pass as part of the National Concessionary Bus Travel Scheme that will enable users to travel by local bus anywhere in England from 09:30am to 11:00pm on weekdays and all day at weekends and bank holidays. The new arrangements will be in place from 01/04/08. This Formal Scheme Definition has been posted as an interim proposal.
    


Who can apply?

Permanent residents of Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council who are aged 60 years or over or:
  • have a permanent disability which seriously impairs their ability to walk,
  • have a significant learning disability which effects their development and social function,
  • have, on medical grounds, been refused a driving licence or it has been revoked.
  • Would likely to be refused a driving licence on medical grounds if they applied,
  • are profoundly deaf,
  • are partially sighted,
  • are without the use of both arms, 
  • are without speech

 

BUS PASS  - The pass is FREE OF CHARGE.  YOU MUST SUPPLY A RECENT PASSPORT SIZED PHOTOGRAPH OF YOURSELF, proof of your age and that you are resident in the Borough of Crewe and Nantwich.  If you lose your Pass a replacement will cost £5.00.  The pass allows for FREE TRAVEL between 9.30 and the last scheduled service of the day, all day Saturday and Sunday and all Bank Holidays on most local bus services throughout England. Cheshire residents travelling in Cheshire before 9.30am can travel half fare.
 
 
 
RAILCARD  - VALID FOR 12 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE THE CARD WILL COST £18.50 and will entitle you to discounted travel on Train services.  The card is only available to persons who are permanent residents of the Borough and are aged 60 years or over.  If you lose your Railcard a replacement can be issued direct from British Rail at a discounted cost, provided that you have your receipt of issue.  It will cost £18.50 for a replacement direct from the Council.
